BB, Lions match realises K1.8 million
The flood victims fundraising match between Big Bullets and Red Lions realised K1.8 million (about $3 600).
According to Bullets general secretary Harold Fote, from this income, K500 000 ($1 000) will go to the flood victims while the rest will be shared among the teams and Football Association of Malawi (FAM).
Apart from the cash realised through the gates, Fote said they also received bags of maize flour and blankets from some well-wishers.
He said, as a club, Bullets was concerned about the plight of the people affected by the floods.
“It is clear that we have supporters residing in the areas affected by floods. That is why we have joined hands with government and other organisations in raising funds for the effected people,” he said.
Floods and hailstorms have wreaked havoc in the country, and 176 people were reported dead while 170 000 displaced.
